Browne's Addition in Spokane encompasses a well-preserved residential section of the city center. Established in 1883, Browne's Addition is one of Washington State's oldest neighborhoods. It is listed as a National Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
Browne's Addition was platted in the 1880s and intensively developed for well-to-do residents around the turn of the 20th century. Many of the historic mansions have been turned into apartments over the years, while condos and modern apartment buildings have also gone up throughout the neighborhood. In recent years, some of the historic homes have been renovated to their original glory. Browne's Addition is located in District 3 of the City of Spokane. Browne's Addition Neighborhood Council (BANC) is our link to the City, and a great opportunity to stay informed and involved. Click HERE to access the BANC Facebook page, and/or email brownescouncil@gmail.com to be added to the distribution list for neighborhood announcements. All residents are welcome to attend meetings held at the Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC) at 6:30pm the last Wednesday monthly, September through May. BANC also sponsors weekly concerts in the park on Thursday nights during summer, and a holiday gathering in December.
